Zedd is a homebred out of our former Thoroughbred mare Ingenium. He was born 26th March 2022.

Zedd was awarded Gold Premium at the 2022 British Breeding foal gradings being described by the judges as an “impressive type” who noted his strong quarters and ground coverage and speed in the canter.

Zedd’s pedigree is a combination of arguably the worlds best Showjumping stallions and marelines paired with world champion Sprinters. His dam Ingenium is sired by Exceed and Excel, a Group 1 winning stallion and Champion Sprinter in Australia who was selected to Sire the first two foals out of the famous Black Caviar. He has also sired multiple successful Event horses upto 3* and an AES licensed stallion. Exceed and Excel was purchased for $22 million at the end of his racing career to have an equally successful Stud career at the Darley Stud. Ingenium’s bloodlines are full of the best names in racing such as Danehill, Northern Dancer and Habitat.

Zedd is sired by Grand Slam VDL, a 1.60m showjumper and all-time top scorer of the KWPN stallion test. Grand Slam’s sire, Cardento, won silver medals at the Athens Olympics, the World Equestrian Games and the European Championship as well as winning the Drammen Nations Cup under Peter Eriksson. Cardento’s dam also produced successful; 1.60m jumper VDL Cartello and 4* Eventer Quasi Cool who competed under Phillip Dutton. As a sire Cardento has produced over 126 1.60m jumping horses and a 5* eventer. His grandsire, Heartbreaker, is recognized as one of world’s best sires, producing over 140 1.60m jumpers and some of the worlds most famous names in showjumping such as Hardrock Z, Halifax Van Het Kluizebos and Echo Van’t Spieveld. The third sire in Grand Slam’s pedigree is the legendary Mr. Blue, who jumped at Grand Prix level winning 3 World Cups and produced top horses such as Plot Blue and Zirocco Blue. Numbers 4 and 5 in this pedigree are ‘Stallion of the Century’ Nimmerdor and top thoroughbred Erdball xx. They provide the base for top performers and producers like Apollo, Just Malone, Goldenbridge, Heartbreaker, Ahorn, etc.

Zedd’s granddam, Wonder A.S., also foaled the approved stallion Dallas VDL, who jumps successfully under Jur Vrieling in Grand Prix and World Cup classes. Great-grand dam, Sonnette, also produced the 1.60m jumper Feline.
